  • The Milan-based executive previously held the role of Vice President for Europe.
  • Possenti has worked with the group for more than two decades and has supported European hotel development and retention.

MILAN, Italy — Roberta Possenti has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Europe, at Preferred Hotels & Resorts, marking a new stage in her long-standing association with the independent hotel group.

The appointment places the Milan-based hospitality executive in a more senior regional position at a time when independent hotels are navigating changing guest expectations and competition for international travellers. Preferred Hotels & Resorts works with independently owned properties, providing a shared commercial and marketing platform while allowing participating hotels to retain their own identities.

Possenti previously served as Vice President, Europe. The group announced that appointment in May 2021, when it described her responsibilities as supporting European hotel retention and development. Its announcement at the time noted that she had already worked with the organisation for more than 19 years, putting her association with the group at more than two decades by 2026.

Her earlier regional remit included working alongside Brenda Collin on the company’s strategy for its European member hotels. Possenti has also engaged with the hospitality industry through HSMAI Region Europe, which featured her as a board member in 2021.

The new title comes against a broader backdrop in which independent luxury and upscale properties seek access to global distribution, international sales relationships and loyalty programmes without giving up their individual positioning. For Preferred Hotels & Resorts and its member properties, European leadership is closely linked to both the development of the hotel network and the support offered to existing members.

Further information about the group’s hotels and portfolio is available from Preferred Hotels & Resorts. The company’s 2021 leadership announcement provides background on Possenti’s previous appointment.
