KEY TAKEAWAYS
- LLA and National Express are offering up to 10,000 £2 single coach tickets for eligible London-to-airport journeys.
- National Express lists 31 October 2026 as the booking deadline and 10 December 2026 as the final travel date, with promo code LUTON2.
- A separate £20 Family Saver rail ticket includes the Luton DART transfer for eligible groups of up to two adults and four children.
- The airport expects nearly 462,000 travellers during October half-term and promotes a new public-transport journey planner.
LONDON LUTON AIRPORT (LLA) is giving autumn travellers a choice of lower-cost public transport connections from the capital, with up to 10,000 one-way coach tickets priced at £2 and a separate £20 family rail fare available for the October half-term. The offers coincide with an expected 462,000 passengers passing through the Bedfordshire airport during the school holiday period.
The airport has teamed up with National Express to discount eligible journeys from central and north London to its terminal. The promotion covers a network of 49 direct coach services daily, with departures available around the clock. Pick-up points include Victoria, Baker Street, Paddington, Marble Arch, St John’s Wood, Finchley Road and Golders Green.
How the £2 coach tickets work
Travellers can find the deal on the National Express London–Luton promotional page and enter the code LUTON2 at checkout. The fare applies to eligible standard one-way journeys from London to the airport, rather than stand-alone trips in the opposite direction. Tickets are limited to 10,000 promotional places, with booking open until 31 October 2026, subject to availability, for travel through 10 December 2026.
The latest terms published on the operator’s dedicated offer page require booking at least seven days in advance and limit the discounted outbound fare to four passengers per transaction. They also provide an optional £10 return leg when purchased alongside a qualifying outbound ticket, making a £12 return base fare. Travellers should check the operator’s current conditions before paying, since advance-purchase requirements and seat availability may change.
The £2 offer is part of LLA’s efforts to make public transport a practical alternative to driving and parking for airport access. In September, the airport introduced an online journey planner to compare train, bus and coach routes by starting point, connections and journey time preferences.
A £20 rail option for families
Families taking the train have a different option. The Luton Airport Express Family Saver offers a £20 single journey between London St Pancras and the airport for groups of up to two adults and four children, with the Luton DART people-mover transfer from Luton Airport Parkway included. The half-term promotion described by the airport runs from 16 October to 1 November 2026. The rail operator says these tickets are for the booked service, are subject to availability and must be bought in advance.
The rail connection can take as little as 32 minutes from St Pancras to the terminal using the train and DART. For families weighing up the two offers, the coach deal applies per passenger on the London-to-airport leg, while the rail Family Saver covers an eligible group on a specified service.
Clare Armstrong, LLA’s Head of Guest Experience, said the airport is aiming to make the trip easier from the moment passengers leave home. She pointed to the transport discounts and new journey planner as part of its half-term preparations. Rafael Fernandez, Managing Director of National Express, said the promotion is intended to relieve travel-cost pressures while supporting alternatives to car journeys.
Half-term destinations and airport preparation
LLA says Corfu, Málaga and Rhodes are among the sunshine destinations attracting half-term travellers. Barcelona, Berlin, Bilbao, Milan and Prague also feature among popular city-break choices from the airport.
Passengers can additionally use the airport’s free Prebook Security service, which lets them reserve a 30-minute security-arrival window. According to the airport, slots can be booked from four days before a flight until 60 minutes before arrival, subject to availability. The reservation is intended to streamline the airport process rather than replace standard security screening.
LLA is operated by a consortium whose shareholders include AENA and InfraBridge and is owned by Luton Rising, a Luton Council company. The airport estimates it supports 28,000 jobs and £830 million in annual economic activity locally. Its emphasis on shared transport reflects a broader effort to manage the passenger journey beyond the terminal, especially during peak school-holiday travel periods.
