Twenty hotels in Rostock and Warnemünde will offer eligible residents and Rostock natives reduced overnight rates from €39, with an October tourist information event launching reservations.

- Rostock's fourth Ankern im Heimathafen initiative offers stays at 20 participating hotels between 4 January and 30 April 2027.
- Eligible residents and people born in Rostock can access rates from €39 to €85 per person per night, based on double occupancy, with discounts of up to 30%.
- Advance bookings open at the 29 October tourist information event from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.; online reservations begin at 10 a.m. on 30 October.
- The preceding edition recorded more than 1,000 bookings, while eligibility requires at least one qualifying person in each room.
For residents of Rostock and its surrounding district, a hotel break on Germany’s Baltic coast will once again come with a local discount. The destination’s “Ankern im Heimathafen” (“Anchoring in Your Home Port”) initiative is returning for a fourth edition with 20 participating hotels, extending its stay period to 30 April 2027 after a record response to the previous campaign.
Organised by the Rostock and Warnemünde Tourism Office, the programme offers eligible locals and people born in Rostock overnight accommodation in their home region at rates starting at €39 per person per night. Stays are available from 4 January to 30 April 2027, with savings of up to 30% depending on the property and dates. The published rates apply to double rooms occupied by two people.
The longer season follows more than 1,000 bookings for the preceding edition, when reservations almost doubled, according to tourism officials. Instead of ending on 15 March, this year’s offer will remain available through the end of April, providing additional opportunities for off-season stays in the city, the seaside resort of Warnemünde and nearby coastal areas.
Early reservations open at a tourist information evening
The first chance to reserve a room will come on Thursday, 29 October 2026, during the “Long Evening of Tourist Information” at Rostock’s tourist information centre on Universitätsplatz. Running from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., the event will combine advance hotel bookings with short city tours, regional food tastings, shopping activities and prize competitions, including a chance to win Holiday on Ice tickets.
Paul Wendland, head of the tourist information centres, said the early booking window gives residents an opportunity to secure popular travel dates and hotels before online reservations begin. Online bookings open at 10 a.m. on 30 October 2026 through the official Ankern im Heimathafen booking page (in German). The published booking window runs until 16 April 2027, subject to limited availability.
Rostock Mayor Eva-Maria Kröger welcomed the campaign’s local appeal, describing the more than 1,000 bookings in the previous edition as a positive signal for the destination’s tourism sector. Tourism officials also see the initiative as a way for residents to experience the hospitality businesses and attractions that normally serve visitors from farther afield.
Five accommodation categories across 20 hotels
Participating accommodation ranges from hostels and city hotels to waterfront resorts and luxury properties. The tourism office lists five nightly price categories, all quoted per person in a double room with two occupants:
- Comfort — €39: Arthotel ANA Amber; DOCK INN Hostel Warnemünde; Hotel Ostseeland; Hotel Ringelnatz; Hotel Sportforum; Landhotel Ostseetraum; WIROtel Warnemünde.
- First Class — €49: Hotel Godewind; Hotel Wilhelmshöhe; KurparkHotel Warnemünde; Strandhafer Aparthotel; StrandResort Markgrafenheide; Vienna House by Wyndham Sonne Rostock.
- First Class Superior — €59: Landhotel Rittmeister; Ringhotel Warnemünder Hof; ScanHotels City; ScanHotels Stadthafen.
- Premium — €69: aja Warnemünde.
- Luxury — €85: Hotel NEPTUN; Park-Hotel Hübner.
The discounted stays can be used for a local getaway or given as gifts. The organisers also suggest that eligible residents can use the scheme to host friends or relatives visiting the area, provided that at least one guest in each booked room meets the programme requirements.
Who can book the reduced rates?
Eligibility is restricted to people whose main residence is in the city of Rostock or the Rostock district, as well as those born in Rostock. At least one person per room must qualify. Proof of eligibility is required and may be checked when booking in person or at hotel check-in. The official booking guidance warns that guests unable to provide valid proof at check-in will be charged the hotel’s regular rate for the stay.
With many of the hotels located close to the waterfront, historic city centre and surrounding nature areas, the campaign encourages short trips that require little travel time. Organisers also highlight the potential for journeys by local public transport to reduce travel-related emissions compared with longer-distance holidays, although individual impacts will depend on how guests travel.
