Spotify’s New In-Car App Is Available for Audi Vehicles Starting Today
The right song sounds even better on the open road. Today, Spotify is introducing a new way to listen while driving: our next-generation in-car app, launching first across Audi’s current lineup.
Our new native app runs directly on the vehicle’s infotainment system, integrating Spotify seamlessly into its screens, sound system, and voice controls. Sign in once, and playback is ready when you start the car—no cables or Bluetooth required.

Until now, in-car audio has been shaped by phone projection. Our new fully native app was built specifically for the in-car environment, allowing us to build a deeper, more engaging experience for drivers and listeners alike.
The experience adapts to the drive. While the vehicle is moving, the center display restricts video and lyrics to keep the driver focused on the road, prioritizing hands-free voice controls and simplified navigation. When parked, including while EV charging, drivers can use the main display for full-screen video podcasts, music videos, and real-time lyrics.
Drivers can also use the vehicle’s native voice controls to manage playback hands-free with “Hey Audi,” or talk directly to Spotify’s DJ to help shape what plays next.
On supported vehicles, front passengers can use dedicated secondary displays to browse, view lyrics, and watch video without distracting the driver. They can also scan an on-screen QR code to join an in-car Spotify Jam and add songs to a shared queue straight from their phones.
“We know how much our listeners love taking Spotify on the road, and this new native app takes that experience to the next level,” said Jonathan Tarlton, Automotive Business Development Lead at Spotify. “We’ve designed this experience to feel completely natural for every drive. Drivers get instant, hands-free access the moment they sit down, while passengers get a front-row seat to watch videos, follow lyrics, and add to the queue together.”
How to get started
-
- Install or update Spotify directly from the Audi Application Store on your vehicle’s infotainment system, if you haven’t already.
- Open Spotify on your vehicle’s display.
- Sign in to your account. Scan the on-screen QR code with your smartphone or personal device, or visit spotify.com/pair and enter the code shown on your vehicle’s display.
- Enjoy Spotify in your Audi. Pick up where you left off with automatic playback, voice controls, and supported passenger-screen features, where available.
You’ll use your phone to sign in, but you don’t need to pair or tether it to the car for playback.*

Starting today, October 21, the app is available directly via the Audi Application Store for both Free and Premium listeners in the all-new electric A6 e-tron and Q6 e-tron, as well as the A5, Q5, and A6. Audi’s upcoming SUVs, the Q7 and Q9, will follow at their market launch. Availability may vary by vehicle and market.
Looking down the road
Audi is the first automaker to launch our native in-car app, but this is just the beginning. Over the coming year, we’ll be expanding this experience across additional global automotive partners, bringing frictionless, built-in listening to more drivers, passengers, and road trips around the world.
*Audi connect package may be required.
