  3. Slumber Realm Wakes Up for Steam Next Fest With a Brand-New Trailer and Refreshed Demo

Press release

The ’90s-soaked dice roguelike has had plenty of updates since you last dozed off, with launch just 16 sleeps away.

October 19, 2026 | Chugga Games is excited to announce that Slumber Realm, the dice roguelike where you battle your childhood fears in your dreams, is taking part in Steam Next Fest, running October 19 to 26. A brand-new trailer and updated demo are live now, with the full game arriving on Steam November 4, 2026.

Wishlist and try the Slumber Realm Demo

Named one of the dice games to watch in 2026 by The Escapist, which called it “one of the best roguelite demos currently available on Steam”, and previously showcased at GDC 2026 and Tiny Teams 2025, Slumber Realm has been turning heads since its announcement.

What’s New in the Demo
In Slumber Realm, you draft Cards into your backpack, then roll the die to set off your whole build. A lot has changed since the demo first launched, with player feedback shaping everything from new content to the way battles look and sound. A final build has just landed for Next Fest.

  • Brought to life: Characters are coming alive with full battle animations, and defeated enemies break apart into the tiny dots their art is made of.
  • Extra juice: Combos and big hits land harder, with more screen shake and a brief slowdown on the biggest hits.
  • Fresh content: New Gamer and Sk8er Cards and Snacks to build around, a redesigned Sun boss fight that plays with Day and Night, and a secret Card hidden somewhere in the dream.
  • A room worth decorating: New bedroom decorations, including a lava lamp and a TV/VCR with animated channels.
  • ’90s throwbacks: 35 Steam Achievements, almost all of them nods to the decade.

Pro Tip: Left-click the background and characters in battle for a jello wobble, then right-click to send a rainbow ripple through the dots.

About The Game
In Slumber Realm, your childhood fears follow you into your dreams, and they’re not going down without a fight. It’s a ’90s-soaked dice roguelike where drafting the right Cards into your backpack and rolling the die can chain your whole build into one explosive turn.

Wake up! Here’s how to play in 4 easy steps

  1. Draft: Add a Card to your backpack
  2. Roll: Toss the die and see what lands
  3. Trigger: Cards trigger if the die lands in their range
  4. Activate: Cards activate in sequence!

That’s a whole turn. Grab your trusty d6, arrange your backpack so one lucky roll sets everything off, and see how far it goes in snappy 30-minute runs.

BUT WAIT... There’s more!

COMBOS! COMBOS! COMBOS!
Craft new degenerate combos to break the game, over and over and over again.

  • Over 150 Cards, including a Rusty Nail and a Sock Full of Nickels
  • Over 40 Memories to make battles easier… or weirder
  • Over 35 tasty Snacks to boost your runs

MIX & MATCH CLASSES
Pick any two Aspects (our word for classes) and draft Cards from both. For example:

  • Tactical + Sk8er: stack Vulnerability on the enemy, then use Tricks to trigger your Cards again and again.
  • Gamer + Tinker: stack the odds with extra dice while you upgrade your Cards.

Every pair mixes a different set of Cards into your backpack, so no two runs build the same machine.

FIGHT YOUR KNIGHTMARES
Fall asleep and the school day follows you in.

  • The Lunch Lady is serving seconds whether you want them or not.
  • Your Geology Homework is still due.
  • The Werecoach will make you run laps until you howl.
  • The Alarm Clock is furious that you’re still in bed.
  • Plus plenty more Knightmares to discover and unlock as you play.

GO TO YOUR ROOM
Spend your Allowance on nostalgic ’90s memorabilia:

  • Retro video games
  • Lava lamps
  • Boomboxes
  • Inflatable chairs
  • Sick skateboards
  • Everything you need to survive Y2K.

Every morning your decorations earn Cool Points to spend on the Corkboard, so every time you wake up there is something new to unlock:

  • Cards
  • Memories
  • Snacks
  • Aspects
  • New Knightmares
  • Other surprises

TL;DR This one’s perfect for fans of Dicey Dungeons, Slay the Spire, and Monster Train.
