Former Discovery Education and Imagine Learning CEO joins alongside new Chief Revenue Officer EJ Caffaro to strengthen leadership and advance career readiness nationwide

Cowdrey brings more than 30 years of experience in education technology, with a proven track record of leading and scaling organizations that serve students and educators. He previously served as CEO of Discovery Education, where he led the creation and implementation of award-winning digital products reaching approximately 4.5 million educators and 45 million students worldwide. Prior to Discovery Education, Cowdrey served as CEO of Imagine Learning, where he played a key role in scaling the company from less than $1 million to hundreds of millions in annual revenue. His extensive experience driving business growth, expanding market reach, and advancing innovation in education technology positions him to guide YouScience through its next phase of growth.

Caffaro joins the executive leadership team with 20 years of experience driving revenue growth and scaling organizations across the education and technology sectors. He previously served as Chief Growth Officer at Art of Education University bringing expertise in building high-performing teams, expanding partnerships, and accelerating growth.
The leadership appointments come during a period of significant momentum for YouScience, reflecting growing demand for solutions that connect education and career readiness. In 2026, YouScience reached more than 1.4 million unique student users, reflecting continued year-over-year growth. Additionally, during the 2025–26 academic year, more than 1.6 million YouScience® Industry Certification exams were taken, an increase of more than 15% over the previous year's record numbers. Beyond its expanding reach, YouScience is helping schools and districts achieve measurable student outcomes. Individual district success stories highlight this impact, including a 152% increase in career and technical education (CTE) enrollment and participation, a 48% increase in new student enrollment with aligned community colleges, and hundreds of thousands of dollars in college tuition savings as high school students earn college credit through industry-recognized certifications.
YouScience is also expanding its role in statewide college and career readiness initiatives. In Utah, the company was selected by the Utah State Board of Education to deliver a career mapping solution supporting the state's First Credential Program, powered by Brightpath.
As part of the leadership transition, YouScience Founder and former CEO Edson Barton will remain with the company as Founder and Head of Strategic Partnerships, focusing on strengthening key relationships and advancing strategic opportunities that support the company's long-term mission. Founder and Chief Product Officer Philip Hardin will also continue in his role, with a focus on driving product innovation and continuous improvement as YouScience expands its impact across schools, districts, and states nationwide.
