91,700-square-foot facility marks significant win for Suffolk's growing Mountain West operation

SALT LAKE CITY, August 25, 2026--Suffolk, one of the most innovative and successful builders in the country, and Zwick Construction Company have been selected to build the new 91,700-square-foot Trades and Technology Building at Dixie Technical College in St. George, Utah. The two companies will deliver the project through a progressive design-build approach, bringing together their complementary higher education and construction expertise, strong Utah presence and shared understanding of the local market to drive collaboration, identify solutions and align design and construction throughout the project.

"Dixie Tech has a clear vision for this facility and the opportunities it will create for students, and our responsibility is to understand that vision and deliver on it," said John Kemp, Chief Operating Officer, Mountain West at Suffolk. "That requires listening closely, anticipating challenges and bringing the right expertise to the table throughout the process. Together, Suffolk and Zwick have the technical knowledge, market understanding and collaborative mindset to navigate the complexities of this project while keeping the College's goals at the center of every decision."

When complete, the Trades and Technology Building will expand Dixie Technical College's capacity to prepare students for careers in the skilled trades and emerging technologies at a time of growing demand for trained workers. The new facility will support the expansion of nine existing programs and create space for eight additional programs, including structural and wildland firefighting, automation and robotics and composite materials construction. Many of these high-demand programs currently face enrollment waitlists, and the new building will allow the College to serve more students and expand pathways into critical industries.

"Our focus from day one is understanding what Dixie Tech needs from this facility, not only today, but as its programs and student population continue to grow," said Darin Zwick, President and CEO of Zwick Construction Company. "That shared focus on the client is what makes our partnership with Suffolk so strong. Our teams bring different perspectives and capabilities, but we work together with one goal: finding the best solutions for Dixie Tech and delivering a facility that will serve its students and the St. George community for years to come."

The mission of the project also reflects Suffolk and Zwick's shared commitment to people and to strengthening the construction workforce. Both companies recognize the importance of investing in their people, supporting professional growth and building strong relationships with trade partners, while championing opportunities for the next generation of builders. For Suffolk, that commitment has included longstanding advocacy for elevating the skilled trades as rewarding, long-term career paths and encouraging more people to consider careers in construction.
