Premier’s AI-First Supply Chain and Quality Intelligence Products Enter Real-World Member Workflows
Six months after announcing its multi-year technology investment, Premier moves from promise to proof, as health systems begin using and refining AI-enabled capabilities ahead of broader availability.
CHARLOTTE, N.C., October 21, 2026--At its 2026 Breakthroughs Conference, Premier's President and CEO, Dr. Emad Rizk, unveiled live, in-workflow demonstrations of the company's AI-enabled technologies. The technologies, co-developed directly with health systems, are moving into real-world use ahead of planned 2027 availability.
"Our ambition is clear: Help healthcare organizations take 2 to 5 percent of operating cost out, give leaders quality intelligence to make better decisions across the continuum of care, and prepare for a future defined by greater risk and changing reimbursement," said Dr. Rizk. "Delivering on that ambition requires an advanced technology backbone, one that quickly turns potential into proof for our members. These innovations demonstrate that we are executing against that agenda, solving the problems our members face today while building the foundation for what comes next."
The demonstrations showcased:
Supply Chain Intelligence to identify and prioritize savings opportunities, surface the drivers behind purchasing performance and help teams take action. The technology is currently being leveraged and refined by daily work across 25 provider health systems for immediate savings.
Quality and Performance, which combines numerous point solutions for a singular view into quality measures, benchmarks, performance insights and improvement workflows. The technology is currently being leveraged in daily work across three different health systems, with 200 additional hospitals providing feedback on more than 150 KPIs with AI-recommended actions for improvement.
Supply Chain Intelligence: Concept to Deployment in Six Months
Supply Chain Intelligence transforms how health systems identify, prioritize and act on opportunities across purchasing and supplier relationships.
In a live Breakthroughs demonstration, Premier showed how a user can ask a proprietary agent why spending in a category is increasing and immediately receive an explanation based on purchasing behavior, pricing and product mix. Users can then move directly into prioritized opportunities, including rebate opportunities and product conversions, with the information needed to engage physicians and other stakeholders.
"In a market that's been comfortable selling potential instead of proof, we delivered real products that solve real problems to real users," said Rizk. "Healthcare leaders don't need more potential. They need something that works, right now, in their workflows. That's the standard we set and the one we intend to keep raising."
