ORLANDO, FL, UNITED STATES, October 23, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- One Purse, an Orlando-based nonprofit dedicated to empowering women reclaiming their lives after domestic abuse and trafficking, has received its first ever grant from the Edyth Bush Charitable Foundation. The grant will provide the leadership expertise needed to expand One Purse's capacity, allowing the organization to serve more women while building long-term sustainability through its innovative social enterprise.
A key part of that growth is bringing a Chief Operating Officer on board. Adding a COO will strengthen day-to-day operations of One Purse's social enterprise, in which donated designer purses are repurposed and resold to fund employment and scholarships to support women in establishing financial independence and freedom. The added leadership capacity will free the organization to scale its programs and support more women in Central Florida and nationally.
"Partnering with the Edyth Bush Charitable Foundation for the first time is a true honor," said Heather Case, Founder and CEO of One Purse. "The Foundation has spent decades helping nonprofits become stronger, and that is exactly what this investment does for One Purse. Adding a COO gives us the leadership expertise to expand our capacity and build a sustainable future, so the women we serve can count on us for years to come."
Financial instability is a primary reason women fall back into abusive or exploitative environments. By providing trauma-informed employment and educational funding, One Purse gives women the concrete tools they need to achieve permanent economic self-sufficiency.
The grant reflects the Edyth Bush Charitable Foundation's longstanding commitment to helping nonprofit organizations be better managed, governed and led. "This grant is possible because of the generosity of our late benefactor, Mrs. Edyth Bush (Mrs. Archibald G. Bush), and her belief in the power of women helping women through private voluntary initiatives” said David Odahowski, President & CEO of the Foundation.
One Purse serves women through three programs: The rePURPOSE Project, which employs women in Central Florida to run an e-commerce purse shop where they learn in-demand job skills; the Restore Her Dream Fund, which provides national scholarships for college tuition and vocational training; and The Dream Cycle Series, a curriculum that helps women build heart and life skills.
