Minto Communities Closes On 1,318-Acre Site For First Latitude Margaritaville Community In Texas

Site development to begin for approximately 3,500-home active adult community in Texas City

TEXAS CITY, Texas, October 20, 2026--Minto Communities USA yesterday closed on a 1,318-acre property in Texas City that will become Latitude Margaritaville Galveston Bay, marking the next major milestone for the first Latitude Margaritaville community in Texas and Minto's first community in the greater Houston area.

Site development for the approximately 3,500-residence active adult community will begin this week. Latitude Margaritaville Galveston Bay will feature Minto's award-winning single-family, villa and cottage homes, along with the next evolution of Latitude Margaritaville's resort-style amenities. Latitude Margaritaville Galveston Bay will be situated between State Highways 3 and 146, north of the Emmett F. Lowry Expressway and extending toward Moses Bayou.

Minto is targeting an early 2028 grand opening for the Latitude Margaritaville Galveston Bay sales center and model park.

The closing follows the Texas City Commission's September approval of the Planned Unit Development (PUD) and Development Agreement (DA) for the property, establishing zoning for Latitude Margaritaville Galveston Bay and outlining the respective responsibilities of Minto and the City of Texas City as development moves forward.

The project also represents a significant new investment in Texas City and Galveston County planned to deliver long-term economic benefits. According to the Development Planning & Finance Group, Latitude Margaritaville Galveston Bay is projected to create thousands of local jobs and generate significant sales tax revenue for the region.
