For travellers departing Manchester Airport, the choice of where to spend the time before a flight increasingly comes down to the experience they want and the amount they are prepared to pay. An updated airport guide published on 16 October sets out options ranging from family-oriented buffets to made-to-order meals overlooking the runway and a separate private-terminal service with chauffeur transfers.
The most accessible of the three airport-operated options, Escape Lounge, starts at £36.99 in Terminal 2 and £31.99 in Terminal 3. The Executive, a newer premium lounge in Terminal 2, starts at £57.99, while aether, the airport’s standalone private terminal, has prices starting at £199. The starting prices published by the airport are indicative rather than guarantees for every booking.
From buffet breaks to a Sunday carvery
Escape is available to passengers flying on any airline and in any ticket class. Its Terminals 2 and 3 lounges offer hot and cold buffet selections, hot and soft drinks, refreshments, flight information screens and charging facilities, making them a practical option for families as well as passengers who want somewhere to work or unwind before departure. Children under three are admitted free.
A short-term family promotion also covers children aged three to 15. The advertised child admission starts at £10 with code MANT2OCT26 for Terminal 2 or MANT3OCT26 for Terminal 3. The published offer terms clarify that discounted prices can vary from £10 to £11.24, subject to availability. The offer applies to new bookings made from 21 September to 31 October 2026 for visits no later than 31 December 2026, with an accompanying adult required.
For an upgraded meal and runway views, The Executive opened in Terminal 2 in July 2026 with a chef-led approach. Its theatre kitchen prepares dishes to order alongside buffet, deli and salad choices, barista coffee and other drinks. A Sunday carvery is a distinctive part of the service. The opening followed the airport’s £1.3 billion transformation of Terminal 2, giving the facility a higher-end lounge option alongside conventional buffet hospitality. Manchester Airport’s earlier launch announcement provides further detail on the lounge.
A separate route through the airport
At the upper end of the range, aether operates from its own facility away from the main terminals. The service combines an exclusive lounge with airfield views, food developed by chef Adam Reid, private security screening and a chauffeur-driven transfer to the aircraft gate. It is open to passengers of any airline and ticket class, although travellers checking hold luggage must use one of aether’s partner airlines.
That baggage condition is worth checking before buying: unlike an ordinary lounge visit, aether changes the airport journey itself, and the arrangements available to passengers depend in part on the airline they are flying with.
Tom Waldron, Chief Experiences Officer at CAVU, said the range reflects growing interest in pre-flight hospitality. CAVU, part of Manchester Airports Group, operates Escape, The Executive and aether, and the airport says investment is also under way in Terminal 3.
Other lounges depend on terminal and airline
Passengers are not limited to CAVU’s three products. Aviation services company Swissport operates Aspire lounges in both terminals, open for bookings across airlines and offering buffet food and seating areas. Emirates also has a dedicated Terminal 2 lounge for eligible First Class and Business Class travellers and Emirates Skywards Platinum and Gold members, with direct boarding and a regional-inspired menu.
With offerings ranging from £31.99 to £199 at the published entry prices, comparing the terminal, food provision, eligibility rules and luggage arrangements before booking remains essential. The airport’s latest lounge overview and official website provide the starting point for checking what is available for a particular trip.
