Lake Ogascanan Lodge & Outposts, an Exclusive Quebec Outfitter, Offers Quebec Lake Trout Fishing on a Restricted-Access Lake
Ontario, Canada - Oct 10, 2026 (UTC) - Most anglers get one real fishing trip a year. The worst part of a bad one is the long drive home, knowing you spent the week on a tired lake that half the province had already fished. Lake Ogascanan Lodge & Outposts sits far from that kind of water. The lodge is about 60 miles (100 km) up a forestry road in a restricted-access zone of Quebec, a dusty two-hour drive from the nearest store. No towns are on the lake, no cottages, and no other lodges. The Mullens family is the only outfitter and the only landowner on the water, and they have run fishing camps in Quebec since 1964.
As an exclusive Quebec outfitter, Ogascanan gives guests the whole lake. You can fish any bay or reef you want without hitting another camp’s boundary. Lake trout share the water with walleye and northern pike, and all three reproduce naturally with no stocking. Trips include boats and motors, and groups can choose from 10 cabins across six locations. The drive-in Main Camp suits groups who want to settle in fast, while the private outposts and the Island Outpost Camp give groups a stretch of shoreline to themselves. Every group starts with a lake orientation from the owners, who show where the trout hold and how deep to fish at that point in the season. In spring, lake trout often cruise shallower water. As summer warms the lake, they drop deep, and a guest who does not know that can spend three days fishing empty water.
“Lake trout grow slow up here, so we treat every one like it matters. You fight it quick, take your picture and put it back. That’s how a lake keeps its fish year after year. Nobody fishes this water but our guests, and nobody fishes it at all once the season closes. We’ve spent our lives learning where these trout go, and we’d rather tell you than watch you lose half your week looking,” said a spokesperson for Lake Ogascanan Lodge & Outposts.
Good Quebec lake trout fishing comes down to two things. You need water that does not get pounded all year, and you need to know where the fish sit as the season changes. Ogascanan gives you both. If you are tired of sharing water and want a week where the only boats in sight belong to your group and other Ogascanan guests, the drive up the bush road is worth making.
About Lake Ogascanan Lodge & Outposts
Lake Ogascanan Lodge & Outposts is a family-run Quebec sportfishing outfitter on a restricted-access lake in the province’s bush country. The family’s outfitting roots go back to 1964, when Ken Mullens started on Kipawa Lake. Brad and Ginny Mullens ran their first season at Ogascanan in 1989, and their sons Dan and Jeremy now handle daily operations with help from the rest of the family. Guests fish for lake trout, walleye and northern pike from a drive-in Main Camp, private outposts and an Island Outpost Camp.
