Waites Sensor Technologies, Inc. (Waites), the leader in AI-driven and analyst-verified prescriptive maintenance solutions, today announced a strategic series of expanded technology capabilities and solutions to support global manufacturing teams in optimizing overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) in the mission to eliminate downtime for good. These latest advancements underscore Waites' commitment to creating a world where nothing breaks®.

Unplanned downtime continues to cost U.S. manufacturers hundreds of billions annually. According to MaintainX's 2026 State of Industrial Maintenance survey results cited in The Execution Era of Predictive Maintenance: Outlook to 2030, 79% of maintenance teams saw downtime stay the same or increase last year. To change that trajectory, Waites is doubling down on the next level of predictive maintenance by creating prescriptive solutions that close the gap between predictive insights and prioritized action.

Waites analysts helped Domtar, a leading paper, packaging, and diversified forest products manufacturer, reduce mechanical and electrical downtime from approximately 10% to 3% at its modernized Kingsport Mill. Using Waites' AI-powered condition monitoring and collaborative human-in-the-loop approach for early detection, Domtar avoided approximately 1,138 hours of unplanned downtime. These results demonstrate how modern condition monitoring can help manufacturers improve reliability, protect throughput, and build more resilient operations.

"Waites has become a core part of our reliability program," said Matthew A. McLaughlin, CRE, reliability superintendent at Domtar. "Across more than 600 assets, we're consistently detecting vibration-related issues early and addressing root cause issues, avoiding 483 hours of downtime in one year alone."
