At USEReady’s Dallas Breakfast with Agents Session, Executives Say AI Success Starts with Strategy, Not Software
USEReady, the global AI, data, and analytics company, recently hosted C-suite executives, technology practice leads and industry specialists in Dallas for its 4th Breakfast with Agents session titled "Mastering Enterprise Transformation: The Lighthouse, The Blueprint & ETRM Solutions." The session explored how to navigate enterprise transformation in the age of AI, with actionable strategies for aligning enterprise strategy, data architecture and operational execution.
The message running through the session was structural clarity: a clear strategic direction has to be set before capital is allocated to capability blueprints and execution engines. Speakers from USEReady, HF Sinclair, US LBM, Columbia University and Sigma Computing took up that idea from the boardroom to the trading desk.
“Every boardroom wants to know where AI will show up in the numbers. No tool can answer that for you,” said Uday Hegde, Co-founder and CEO, USEReady. “Transformation starts when leadership agrees on the destination, and technology earns its place by getting the business there faster. That is why capital should follow strategy, not the other way around.”
Venkat Kumaraswami, SVP, Energy & Manufacturing, USEReady, opened the session by introducing the Transformation Triad: the WHERE, the WHAT and the HOW. Successful transformation, he said, begins with a strategic north star, set before capital is committed to capability blueprints and execution engines.
“In the age of AI, technology is an accelerator, not a strategy. The goal of transformation isn't having the smartest tools; it is building an adaptable operating model that turns enterprise data into measurable bottom-line value,” said Kumaraswami.
The boardroom view was the focus of the first panel, The Lighthouse, moderated by Uday Hegde. Hari Kodakalla, Head of Data & Analytics, Frost, and Nimish Shah, AVP, Enterprise Applications, Columbia University, discussed board-level value creation and strategic discipline, including how executive teams evaluate technology and AI investments through a boardroom lens. The aim is to ensure capital flows into initiatives that expand operating margins, optimize balance sheets and drive long-term enterprise valuation rather than high-cost distractions.
The second panel, The Blueprint, was moderated by Arun Prabhakara, SVP, Client Partner, USEReady, and examined the structural architecture needed to deliver transformation. Madhu Bangalore, Head of Digital Solutions, Data, Analytics & AI, HF Sinclair, and Ananda Sankaran, Sr. Director of Engineering, Enterprise Data & Analytics, US LBM, shared insights into building agile data and analytics operating models across energy refining and building materials distribution networks. The discussion highlighted strategies for balancing rapid 60-to-90-day business wins with building scalable, unified data foundations.
The session then turned to industry-specific application in Energy Trading & Risk Management (ETRM). Brian Paul, Oil & Gas SME, and Andy McGuire, Account Executive, both of Sigma Computing, presented advanced ETRM solutions powered by Sigma Computing, demonstrating how modern cloud analytics can accelerate trade analysis, risk exposure visibility and data-driven decision-making across energy and commodity trading operations.
In his closing address, Kumaraswami returned to the session's central image. Technology platforms, AI algorithms and analytics suites are not the lighthouse, he said. They are the engines that propel the business forward. Success comes down to keeping cross-functional teams aligned on the strategic destination while maintaining execution agility.
