Deck Your Halls with This Year’s Spotify Singles: Holiday Collection

Spotify

It’s that time of year again! The holiday season has kicked off on Spotify, and that can only mean one thing: Our Spotify Singles: Holiday Collection is here.

Each year, we ask artists to take a holiday favorite and make it their own. This season our festive tradition continues with Freya Skye covering Pretenders’ “2000 Miles,” NIKI taking on Carpenters’ “Merry Christmas, Darling,” and Lykke Li adding extra sparkle to Judy Garland’s “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas.”

“Being a part of Spotify Singles and something that touches on two of the most incredible things, music and Christmas, is so special,” said Freya. “I feel so lucky to be here and make new Christmas memories with my family through music, and be a part of other people’s memories, too.”

While Freya is thinking about new memories, NIKI drew inspiration for her cover from holidays past. “Lyrically it’s such a sweet, poignant song, but I wanted to turn it on its head,” she said. “I grew up in a tropical climate, so while it still feels like Christmas, I added a bit of a warm-weather flavor to it.”

And Lykke? Her contribution is a tribute to the holiday original. “I’m very fond of the Judy Garland version, and I really respect and admire the emotional history behind the song,” she said. “It has the most beautiful, perfect, and timeless melody that I hope I brought something new to in my version.”

For nearly a decade, our Spotify Singles: Holiday Collection has been a seasonal staple among listeners. Last year’s new additions included Ravyn Lenae’s version of “O Holy Night,” Jordan Davis’ cover of “O Come, All Ye Faithful,” Fall Out Boy’s take on “It Feels Like Christmas,” Poppy’s spin on “Last Christmas,” and Sofia Camara’s version of “Christmas Lights.”

Stay tuned for more holiday surprises coming soon. In the meantime, deck your halls with new festive favorites, and past Spotify Holiday Singles, on our Holiday Collection playlist.
