- Neighborhood Garden Grows Into a Network of Opportunity for Local FarmersCompanies: PepsiCoNeighborhood Garden Grows Into a Network of Opportunity for Local Farmers Wed, 10/14/2026 - 11:35 Subheader What began as a neighborhood garden is now helping Iowa farmers access new markets, resources and training. With PepsiCo-supported funding, We Arose is building on that momentum and strengthening Waterloo's local food network. Body In Waterloo, Iowa, DaQuan Campbell’s urban farm is part of the neighborhood. Residents stop to ask what’s growing, and local farmers gain new ways to reach customers through We Arose, the business he founded to connect food, growers and community. “That’s one of the things I value most about urban farming,” said Campbell. “The farm gets to be part of the community rather than something happening on the outskirts of town.” Image Campbell did not expect farming to become his future. His great-great-grandparents owned a farm in the South, and later generations carried that connection to Iowa. He remembers tending his family’s garden, eating food he had watched grow and sharing harvests with neighbors. “There was pride in being able to grow something yourself, but part of it was also sharing what you had,” said Campbell. Years later, he studied business and worked with the University of Northern Iowa’s Local Food Program, which showed him how agriculture could balance purpose and profit. “I began to see agriculture not only as something that had been part of my family’s history, but as something I could build a future around,” he said. Image Campbell started We Arose in 2019 as a small neighborhood garden. For two years, the team gave away its harvest while asking residents which crops mattered most and what prices could keep fresh food accessible while supporting a viable business. In 2021, We Arose moved into commercial production through farmers markets, home deliveries and a community-supported agriculture program, or CSA, which provides subscribers with regular selections of seasonal produce. As We Arose grew, so did the challenge of helping more growers reach customers. Through a three-year PepsiCo-supported grant, Practical Farmers of Iowa has helped We Arose expand its farmers market and CSA work while connecting more growers to shared sales and distribution. The name We Arose captures that community focus. “The ‘We’ is intentional,” said Campbell. “To me, farming and local food have always been about community. I wanted the name to make clear that this work was never just about one person.” The “Arose” evokes a rose growing through concrete — a symbol of moving forward despite historical barriers to land ownership and unequal access to land, capital and information. “The name acknowledges the challenges that have shaped our history, but it isn’t defined by those challenges,” said Campbell. “It’s about community and creating a path forward.” Today, We Arose grows food and aggregates products from other small and emerging farmers, helping them reach customers through shared sales and distribution. Its CSA has grown from 15 subscribers to about 37, with a goal of 100. The local farmers market Campbell has managed since 2018 has expanded from 15 vendors to more than 40 and draws up to 1,200 customers a week during peak season. Image Those numbers tell only part of the story. Farmers markets have become community destinations, while volunteer sessions and monthly bike rides — including an annual farm crawl — bring people through the neighborhoods We Arose serves. Campbell also hears from residents who recognize culturally familiar crops. “It’s special hearing that a vegetable reminds someone of home, their Southern roots, or something their parents or grandparents used to grow and eat,” said Campbell. For PepsiCo, whose food begins on farms, that growth reflects what the company hopes to support, which is local farmers, strong markets and the communities they serve. Image "Strong food systems start with strong farming communities, and with the people who know those communities best. Organizations like We Arose understand what local farmers need and help them reach new customers and markets,” said Jonathan George, director of social impact, North America, PepsiCo. “By working alongside partners like Practical Farmers of Iowa to support locally led solutions, we're helping build food systems that are more resilient for farming communities and the families they feed." For growers, the support has included seed grants, tools, supplies and specialized equipment such as walk-in coolers and wildlife exclusion fencing. Practical Farmers of Iowa has also provided workshops on food safety, funding applications and crop planning, including language-supported training for Congolese growers who contribute to We Arose’s collaborative CSA. What matters most to me is creating an opportunity for a farmer, connecting a family with locally grown food, or building something that adds value to the community I call home. - DaQuan Campbell Behind the scenes, the Practical Farmers of Iowa partnership helped We Arose make targeted upgrades that keep an expanding farm operation moving. Improvements include a propagation greenhouse, a farm truck and bookkeeping support that introduced clearer accounts, a key performance indicator dashboard and stronger monthly financial processes. "We Arose already had the foundations of a transformative organization. They are rooted in their community, with a humble and dedicated leader who was poised to grow as a professional while feeding his community,” said Natasha Hegmann, specialty crops business manager at Practical Farmers of Iowa. “Over the last three years we've worked more closely with DaQuan, providing financial and technical support for critical infrastructure like water access on urban plots and new production space, but also to support the development of the organization.” For Campbell, success is measured not only in sales or subscriber totals, but in the relationships built around food. “What matters most to me is creating an opportunity for a farmer, connecting a family with locally grown food, or building something that adds value to the community I call home,” said Campbell. As We Arose grows, that idea remains at the center: One farm can grow more than produce — it can help a wider local food economy take root. - OpenWorld (NASDAQ: OPNW) Signs Term Sheet to Finance and Operate a Solar-Powered AI Computing Network Built on Tesla Powerwall BatteriesCompanies: TeslaOpenWorld, Inc. ("OpenWorld" or the "Company") (NASDAQ: OPNW), an innovation company advancing global real-world asset ("RWA") tokenization, today announced that it has entered into a non-binding term sheet with Meridian to establish a tokenized financing program of up to $[1] billion to fund the purchase and deployment of a distributed AI computing network powered by solar energy and Tesla Powerwall battery storage. Under the term sheet, OpenWorld will serve as advisor, structuring agent and services provider for the program, and its OpenWorld Enterprise platform will finance, coordinate and monitor the network. Key Highlights Up to $1 billion in tokenized financing: OpenWorld structures and administers the tokenized financing program on OpenWorld Enterprise. Tesla Powerwall batteries, solar panels and AI computing equipment serve as collateral within the structure. Exclusive Tesla Powerwall inventory: Meridian holds exclusive rights to a reserved inventory of Tesla Powerwall systems that qualified for federal clean-energy tax credits before those credits were discontinued. [The inventory covers more than 160,000 Powerwalls, enough to support approximately 80,000 homes.] Initial deployment of 10,000 homes: [GPU-equipped computers at participating homes, with larger installations at local schools, hospitals and commercial campuses.] AI inference without new data centers: AI providers pay to run trained models on the network with no new centralized data-center sites, no additional grid interconnections and no water-based cooling. The program is intended to supply capacity to one or more leading AI inference providers. Hosts get paid: Homeowners receive monthly hosting payments and lower-cost electricity, with household energy needs taking priority over computing workloads. Commercial hosts receive a share of site revenue and backup power. Timeline: Test installations scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026; first commercial site targeted for the first quarter of 2027. Builds on the BeyondAI transaction: Follows last week's proposed transaction with BeyondAI, which would transform BeyondAI’s industrial AI intellectual property rights into financeable collateral on OpenWorld’s tokenization platform. Solving the Power Problem in AI Infrastructure Access to power is a growing constraint on AI infrastructure. New data centers face lengthy grid interconnection timelines, local opposition and significant water demands. The planned network of home-hosted, distributed AI inference computing would place GPU-equipped computers at participating homes and larger installations at local schools, hospitals and commercial campuses, each powered by on-site solar generation and Tesla Powerwall storage. AI providers would pay to use this computing capacity for inference, the process of running trained AI models, without requiring new centralized data-center sites, additional grid connections or water-based cooling. Participating homeowners would receive monthly hosting payments and lower-cost electricity, with household energy needs taking priority over computing workloads. Commercial hosts would receive a share of site revenue and backup power. How the Program Works Meridian, a privately held Delaware limited liability company, specializes in optimizing tax credits for Tesla Powerwall systems and holds exclusive rights to a reserved inventory of Powerwall systems that qualified for federal clean-energy tax credits before those credits were discontinued. [The inventory covers more than 160,000 Powerwalls, enough to support installations at approximately 80,000 homes. The program’s initial deployment is planned for 10,000 homes.] Under the term sheet, OpenWorld will serve as advisor, structuring agent and services provider for the financing program. OpenWorld will establish and administer the tokenized financing structure on its OpenWorld Enterprise platform. The financing would support Meridian’s purchase and deployment of Tesla Powerwall batteries and associated AI computing equipment, as well as the purchase by OpenWorld or a subsidiary of solar panels, all of which would serve as collateral within the structure. OpenWorld is also developing an integrated system to power and operate each installation. The OpenWorld Enterprise platform will coordinate computing workloads across the network, monitor equipment performance and provide investors with reporting on the underlying assets. The program is intended to supply computing capacity to one or more leading AI inference providers. Test installations are scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026, with the first commercial site targeted for the first quarter of 2027. Management Commentary “Access to power is becoming the major constraint on the growth of AI infrastructure,” said Matt Shaw, CEO and Chairman of OpenWorld. “By bringing computing equipment to homes and commercial properties through solar generation and Tesla Powerwall storage, we can build AI capacity closer to the power source instead of waiting years for a grid connection. Our term sheet with Meridian brings together the tokenization, financing and operating capabilities needed to develop this network at scale, and it shows what OpenWorld Enterprise is built to do: turn real-world assets into financeable, on-chain infrastructure.” “Meridian’s rights to a large inventory of tax-qualified Tesla Powerwall systems provide the critical foundation for this program,” said Josh Raffaelli, founder of Meridian and clean energy investor. “OpenWorld will help us finance the equipment and manage the network, turning solar generation and battery storage at participating properties into infrastructure that can serve growing demand for AI computing.” If a transaction is consummated, Mr. Raffaelli is expected to join OpenWorld’s board of directors. Certain officers and directors of OpenWorld hold interests in Meridian; additional information regarding these relationships is included in the Company’s Current Report on Form 8-K. - Startup Funding Makes Headlines. Employee Equity Often Pays the Price.San Francisco, CA Wednesday Oct 14, 2026 @ 9:00 AM Eastern — Startup announcements often highlight valuations, investors, and capital raised, with multi-million dollar rounds capturing headlines. Founders discuss growth plans, and venture capital firms celebrate their latest investments. However, an essential group is frequently overlooked: employees who hold equity in the companies they help build. For thousands of startup employees worldwide, stock options, restricted stock units and other forms of equity compensation represent a significant portion of their potential financial future. While a funding round may appear to signal success, it can also introduce changes that affect the value and ownership percentage associated with employee-held equity. Understanding how these changes occur has become increasingly important as startups rely on equity compensation to attract and retain talent. The Critical Role of Startup Equity Today Over the past decade, equity compensation has transitioned from a niche benefit to a standard feature of employment packages within the technology sector and startup ecosystem. Employees often accept lower salaries in exchange for the opportunity to participate in a company's future growth. For some, equity can become more valuable than years of salary. Stories of employees benefiting from successful IPOs or acquisitions have become part of startup culture. However, the path from receiving equity to realizing value is rarely straightforward. Many employees receive grant documents but have limited understanding of concepts such as dilution, preferred shares, liquidation preferences, secondary transactions or changing valuations. As companies remain private for longer periods, these topics become increasingly relevant. Why Dilution Matters One of the most misunderstood aspects of startup ownership is dilution. When a company raises additional capital, it typically issues new shares to investors. Existing shareholders, including employees, may see their ownership percentage decrease as a result. This does not automatically mean an employee's equity becomes less valuable. A significant post-funding valuation increase can enhance the economic value of a reduced ownership percentage. The challenge is that ownership percentage and company valuation can move in different directions, creating confusion for employees who may not have access to detailed cap table information. Without context, it can be difficult to determine whether a financing event improves or weakens the position of an individual shareholder. Valuation Does Not Guarantee Liquidity Another common misconception is equating valuation with accessible wealth. A startup may announce a valuation of hundreds of millions, or even billions, of dollars. Yet employees often cannot sell their shares immediately. Most private company stock remains subject to restrictions, company policies and limited opportunities for liquidity. As a result, employees can find themselves in a position where they hold equity that appears highly valuable on paper but lacks a clear path to conversion into cash. The distinction between theoretical value and actual liquidity has become increasingly important as private companies delay public listings and remain private for longer periods. Ownership Education Is Becoming Essential As employee equity becomes more prevalent in the startup economy, understanding ownership is evolving into a crucial skill. Employees increasingly seek answers to questions such as: How much of the company do I actually own? How does a new funding round affect my stake? What rights do different share classes carry? How should I interpret startup valuations? What options exist if I want to sell shares before an IPO? These questions are no longer limited to founders and investors. They increasingly affect engineers, product managers, designers, operators and early team members whose compensation includes company equity. A Growing Need for Transparency The startup ecosystem has matured considerably, but information asymmetry remains a persistent challenge. Investors often have access to extensive documentation and specialist advice, while employees may rely on fragmented information gathered from online forums and informal discussions. Increased transparency in ownership structures, funding mechanics, and equity outcomes empowers employees to make informed career and financial decisions. As startup equity continues to become a mainstream form of compensation, understanding what happens behind the headlines may be just as important as the funding announcements themselves. After all, when a company raises capital, the story is not only about investors and valuations. It is also about the employees whose ownership stakes, future opportunities and long-term financial outcomes evolve with every funding round. - Doubleview Reports First 2026 Drill Assays from Hat Project; H109 Returns 541.2 Metres of 0.27% CuEq and H113-H114 Add South-West Extension DataVancouver, BC, Oct 14, 2026 - Doubleview Gold Corp. (TSXV: DBG) (OTCQX: DBLVF) (FSE: 1D4) ("Doubleview" or the "Company") is pleased to announce assay results for drill holes H109, H110, H113 and H114, the first reported assay results from the Company's 2026 drilling campaign at its 100%-owned Hat Polymetallic Deposit in northwestern British Columbia. The Company has completed approximately 7,400 metres of drilling at the Hat Project during 2026 to date, and drilling is ongoing. Drill holes H109 and H110 were drilled from the Hat East area, while drill holes H113 and H114 were drilled from the South-West Extension area. The holes were designed to provide additional geological and assay information in areas where the Company's current block model and mineralization model indicated a need for additional definition. The results reported in this release add data from two separate locations on the Hat Deposit: the east side of the deposit and the south-west extension area. Additional assay results from both areas remain pending and will be announced following receipt, validation and review by the Company's Qualified Person. The Company's geological interpretation remains subject to change as additional drilling and assay data are received and integrated. Drill holes H109, H110, H113 and H114 were not included in the Mineral Resource Estimate with an effective date of February 4, 2026, or in the Preliminary Economic Assessment disclosed by the Company in March 2026. These results will be considered for future geological modelling, resource estimation and engineering studies. No updated mineral resource estimate, pit design, economic analysis or resource classification change has been completed using the results reported in this news release. Highlights First 2026 assay release: H109, H110, H113 and H114 are the first drill holes from the 2026 Hat drilling campaign to be reported by assay. Two target areas reported: H109 and H110 provide additional data from Hat East, while H113 and H114 add data from the South-West Extension area. H109 returned 541.2 metres grading 0.27% CuEq from 60.0 metres, including 128.0 metres grading 0.48% CuEq, 19.0 metres grading 1.36% CuEq and 13.0 metres grading 1.80% CuEq. H113 returned 417.6 metres grading 0.23% CuEq from 24.8 metres, including 174.4 metres grading 0.31% CuEq, 82.4 metres grading 0.37% CuEq and 7.4 metres grading 1.37% CuEq. H114 returned 567.7 metres grading 0.16% CuEq from 36.3 metres, including 89.3 metres grading 0.41% CuEq and 55.0 metres grading 0.49% CuEq. The holes were designed to fill important data gaps and provide additional drill density for future modelling. No change to current resource categories is implied until an updated MRE is completed and approved by a Qualified Person. Copper equivalent values in this release exclude scandium oxide (Sc2O3), which is reported separately in the assay table. Selected Assay Results Hat East - H109 and H110: H109 returned 541.2 metres grading 0.27% CuEq from 60.0 metres, including 432.0 metres grading 0.30% CuEq, 217.2 metres grading 0.37% CuEq, 128.0 metres grading 0.48% CuEq, 19.0 metres grading 1.36% CuEq and 13.0 metres grading 1.80% CuEq. H110 returned 408.4 metres grading 0.20% CuEq from 38.7 metres, including 111.7 metres grading 0.30% CuEq, 30.0 metres grading 0.78% CuEq, 19.0 metres grading 1.01% CuEq and 6.0 metres grading 1.89% CuEq. All reported intervals are drill core lengths. True widths have not been determined. Complete assay intervals are presented in Table 1. Current MRE and PEA Context References in this news release to the 2026 PEA pit shell or proposed pit outline are provided only for geological context. They do not imply that the new drill holes are included in a mine plan, that mineral reserves have been estimated, or that an updated economic analysis has been completed. Mineral resources are not mineral reserves and do not have demonstrated economic viability. The PEA is preliminary in nature and includes inferred mineral resources that are considered too speculative geologically to have the economic considerations applied to them that would enable them to be categorized as mineral reserves. CEO Comment Farshad Shirvani, President and CEO of Doubleview Gold Corp., commented: "These first 2026 assays are important because they add disciplined follow-up data from two separate parts of the Hat Deposit. H109 and H110 provide additional close-spaced information from Hat East, including a strong interval in H109 beneath the 2026 PEA pit shell, while H113 and H114 add meaningful data from the South-West Extension area. These holes were drilled with a clear purpose: to fill gaps, test continuity and improve the data available for future modelling. While these results do not change the current MRE or PEA on their own, they are important building blocks for future updates. We look forward to reporting additional assays from both areas after they are received, validated and reviewed." To view an enhanced version of this graphic, please visit: https://images.newsfilecorp.com/files/8003/318915_1ca93714f4667a49_004full.jpg Geological Interpretation Hat East - H109 and H110 H109 and H110 were drilled from the same Hat East platform and were planned to test close-spaced mineralization on the east side of the Hat Deposit. The drill holes provide additional assay and geological information in an area where the Company is seeking to improve the continuity, geometry and grade distribution inputs for future block model work. H109 intersected a broad mineralized interval beginning at 60.0 metres and continuing for 541.2 metres. Within this interval, stronger mineralization occurs between 467.0 and 486.0 metres, including 13.0 metres grading 1.80% CuEq. The Company interprets this as further support for mineralization below the 2026 PEA pit shell in the Hat East area. H110 also returned broad mineralization, including 408.4 metres grading 0.20% CuEq from 38.7 metres and higher-grade intervals near the lower portion of the reported intercept, including 19.0 metres grading 1.01% CuEq and 6.0 metres grading 1.89% CuEq. Together, H109 and H110 achieved their intended purpose by adding close-spaced assay information to an important eastern part of the mineralized system. South-West Extension - H113 and H114 H113 and H114 were drilled from the South-West Extension area to add assay information in a part of the Hat Deposit where additional drilling is required to better define mineralization continuity and geometry. The Company interprets these holes as adding mineralization confirmation to the south-west area, while also providing data that may assist future modelling of the overall mineralization envelope. H113 returned 417.6 metres grading 0.23% CuEq from 24.8 metres, including 174.4 metres grading 0.31% CuEq, 82.4 metres grading 0.37% CuEq and 7.4 metres grading 1.37% CuEq. H114 returned 567.7 metres grading 0.16% CuEq from 36.3 metres, including 89.3 metres grading 0.41% CuEq and 55.0 metres grading 0.49% CuEq. These intervals are interpreted by the Company to further support mineralization in the south-west part of the Hat system; however, the final interpretation is subject to change as additional drill holes from this and other locations are received, validated and modelled. The results reported in this release are expected to be incorporated into future geological modelling after completion of standard QA/QC review and Qualified Person verification. Until an updated mineral resource estimate is completed, these results should not be interpreted as changing current mineral resource quantities, mineral resource classifications, pit geometry or project economics. Quality Assurance and Quality Control Hat Project drill cores are processed at Doubleview's field camp where they are photographed, measured and logged by technical staff and then divided using a diamond-bladed saw. One half is placed in a secure sample bag and forwarded to the independent analytical laboratory. The remaining half core is stored on site where it is available for further examination and sampling. Samples are subject to a chain-of-custody routine as they are shipped from camp to a bonded carrier for delivery to the laboratory. All core samples are prepared and analyzed at AGAT Laboratories in Calgary, an independent ISO 17025 and ISO 9001 certified facility. Samples are dried, crushed to 70% passing 2 mm, split to obtain a 250 g representative portion, and pulverized to 85% passing 75 micrometres. Gold, platinum and palladium are assayed by 30-50 g fire assay with ICP-OES finish. Multi-element analyses are performed by four-acid digestion with ICP-OES/MS, with ore-grade assays applied where required. Selected samples are further analyzed for whole-rock oxides using lithium borate fusion with ICP-OES, and loss on ignition is determined separately. Routine quality assurance protocols include insertion of blanks, duplicates and certified reference materials.
