- Arrow Electronics Commissions New Film Exploring the Future of Blind MobilityCompanies: Arrow ElectronicsArrow Electronics Commissions New Film Exploring the Future of Blind Mobility Wed, 10/14/2026 - 14:10 Body Centennial, Colo., October 14, 2026 – When twin sisters Irina Crocker and Silvia Stelea were 19, they were told that the genetic condition they were born with would eventually cause them to go blind. But Crocker and Stelea never let that diagnosis define them. Today, they are motivational speakers, members of the Romanian Paralympics Archery Team and the subjects of a new film exploring the future of blind mobility. Produced by BBC StoryWorks for Arrow Electronics, the film follows the sisters as they learn to navigate the world with more freedom, thanks to a new wearable intelligent device developed by Arrow customer .lumen. Available as a durable, weatherproof headset, .lumen’s “glasses” rely on the same type of technology that powers autonomous cars. Using a combination of machine learning, cameras, and haptic sensors that stimulate the sense of touch, the device scans the environment, identifies safe paths and guides users through directional vibrations felt on the forehead. “Wearing the glasses felt like I'm pioneering something that you could only see in the movies, and it was a privilege to be one of the testers,” said Stelea. Stelea and Crocker are among 1,200 blind individuals in 40 countries who have tested the glasses. Currently available through a public assistive program in Romania, .lumen is also launching the product more widely in Europe and has plans to expand internationally. Arrow is helping the startup scale by identifying, sourcing, and integrating the lengthy list of processors, cameras, sensors, and connectors the device requires. “With the support of Arrow, they helped us on the prototyping side and they helped us on the manufacturing side,” said .lumen’s CEO and Founder Cornel Amariei. The film featuring Crocker and Stelea is part of All In, an original content series launched last month and presented by The Valuable 500, a business collective working to end disability exclusion. “Seeing how technology makes life better for people with physical limitations - and helps create new opportunities - is what drives our Five Years Out brand,” said Joe Verrengia, Arrow’s global director of marketing, brand and storytelling. “Our purpose is to guide innovation forward.” Arrow is a pioneer in using semi-autonomous to improve mobility for the disabled. The company developed a series of semi-autonomous (SAM) cars that a quadriplegic race car driver controls with the help of an AI model and electronics developed by Arrow engineers. .lumen’s proprietary glasses extend the SAM concept beyond paralysis to people with visual impairment, representing the most advance assistive technology worldwide for the blind. Image About .lumen .lumen builds Physical AI for Mobility, from Glasses for the Blind to Humanoid Delivery Robots. The first application of this technology is the .lumen Glasses for the Blind, which bring the principles of autonomous driving to pedestrian mobility. The device uses artificial intelligence and haptic guidance to reproduce the main functions of a guide dog in a scalable wearable system. - NatWest Backs KeySIM’s Rapid Growth in the IoT Connectivity SectorCompanies: NatWest GroupTuesday 13 October, 2026 NatWest has provided a new finance facility to fast-growing UK IoT SIM provider KeySIM, supporting the company’s continued expansion and investment in resilient network infrastructure. KeySIM provides IoT SIM cards and managed connectivity services that enable machines, equipment and remote assets to connect securely to the internet. For many organisations, the ability to remotely access equipment securely using fixed IP connectivity is business critical, helping to maintain operational continuity, reduce engineering visits and support increasingly stringent cyber security requirements. The new funding will support the development of KeySIM’s next-generation resilient network infrastructure, further enhancing service continuity for customers operating mission-critical connected devices. KeySIM serves organisations across a broad range of sectors including healthcare, retail, facilities management and security. Customers featured on the company’s website include the NHS, FatFace and Punch Pubs. Reflecting the rapid growth of the business, KeySIM transmitted more than 10 million megabytes of data across its IoT connectivity platform during June 2026 alone. Following revenues of £370,000 during the year ending July 2025, KeySIM will exceed £500,000 during 2026 and is forecasting annual recurring revenue to surpass £1 million during 2027. The company says its growth has been driven in part by organisations migrating from incumbent connectivity providers in search of enhanced resilience, multi-network capability and responsive technical support. The latest funding milestone further strengthens a long-standing relationship between KeySIM and NatWest. Founder and Managing Director Graham Robinson participated in the NatWest Accelerator programme during 2021 and 2022, an experience which the company credits as being pivotal in shaping its growth trajectory. Rob Woods, Relationship Manager at NatWest, commented: “We are delighted to continue supporting KeySIM and have had the privilege of monitoring the company’s impressive growth over a number of years. The business has demonstrated strong innovation, ambition and customer focus, and we look forward to supporting Graham and the team as they continue their exciting growth journey.” Graham Robinson, Managing Director of KeySIM, said: “Thank you to NatWest for their ongoing support. It isn’t a stretch to say that NatWest has been absolutely pivotal to KeySIM’s success, and we are incredibly grateful to be working alongside them. These funds will enable us to further enhance our network resilience and continue improving the service we provide to customers.” With demand for resilient and secure IoT connectivity continuing to grow, KeySIM expects to continue investing in its platform, expanding its customer base and strengthening its position within the UK IoT connectivity market.
- FATFACE Strengthens In-Store Connectivity with KeySIM Multi-Network IoT SIMsTuesday 13 October, 2026 Retail brand FATFACE has selected KeySIM's multi-network IoT SIM cards to support reliable connectivity across a number of its UK stores, improving uptime for business-critical systems. With stores spread across a wide geographical area, FATFACE requires consistent and resilient connectivity to keep operations running smoothly. Traditional single-network SIM solutions can struggle in varying signal conditions, particularly across rural, coastal and high-street locations. KeySIM's solution provides access to Vodafone, O2, EE and Three on a single SIM card, allowing devices to connect to the strongest available network at any given time. Shaun Chrimes, Head of IT & Information Security at FATFACE, commented: "Reliable connectivity across our store estate is essential. With locations spread widely across the UK, having access to multiple mobile networks on a single SIM provides the resilience we need to keep our systems operational. KeySIM's solution gives us confidence that our stores stay connected." Shaun Chrimes, Head of IT & Information Security, FATFACE "KeySIM's unsteered multi-network SIM technology enables devices to automatically select the best available signal without being restricted to a preferred network. This is particularly valuable for retail environments where connectivity consistency directly impacts revenue and service quality" Graham Robinson, Founder of KeySIM, added: "Retailers like FATFACE operate in diverse locations where network performance can vary significantly. By enabling access to Vodafone, O2, EE and Three on a single SIM, we help ensure their stores remain connected at all times." Graham Robinson, Founder, KeySIM KeySIM currently supports over 500 organisations across the UK with resilient IoT connectivity, providing flexible, contract-free solutions designed for business-critical applications.
