TLC590 Achieves Statistically Significant Reductions in Pain and Opioid Use Versus Both Placebo and Liposomal Bupivacaine in Pivotal Phase 3 Trial
TAIPEI, Taiwan and SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., Oct. 19, 2026 -- TLC BioSciences Corp. (TPEx: TLC-KY; ticker: 7924; “TLC”) today announced positive topline results from its pivotal Phase 3 trial of TLC590, an investigational extended-release formulation of ropivacaine, for the management of postsurgical pain following bunionectomy. The trial met its primary endpoint, with TLC590 significantly reducing pain intensity through 72 hours after surgery compared with placebo (p=0.0024); rescue opioid consumption was also significantly lower. In a head-to-head comparison with liposomal bupivacaine, an approved long-acting local anesthetic, TLC590 also demonstrated statistically significant superiority in both pain intensity and rescue opioid consumption. The analgesic benefit of TLC590 over both comparators was maintained through 168 hours. These results support the potential of TLC590 as a single-dose, non-opioid option for durable postsurgical pain relief with reduced opioid use.
