Pypestream Launches API for Building Custom Enterprise AI Apps With RE/MAX as First Customer
Pypestream, which builds AI agents that finish the job for Fortune-class enterprises, today announced the Engagement API, a REST API that lets enterprise product and engineering teams connect Pypestream's AI Agents to any channel or surface they build. Teams can reach the AI Agents from a messaging platform, a custom mobile app, an embedded web experience or a backend system, using WebSocket or webhook delivery.
The Engagement API lets an enterprise put AI agents inside the apps and websites its customers and employees already use, designed and branded the way the enterprise wants, without sending anyone to a separate product. Pypestream's platform processes more than 50 million interactions a month for Fortune 500 enterprises.
"Enterprises have told us they want AI agents that do real work, and they want their own product teams to own the experience. The Engagement API lets those teams design the interface, control access and set their own release schedule, while Pypestream runs the AI Agents, analytics and contact center behind it," said Richard Smullen, Founder and CEO of Pypestream.
RE/MAX is the first customer to build on it. RE/MAX introduced SkyView to its network at its R4 conference in February 2026 as an AI assistant built on RE/MAX brand data. RE/MAX owns the design, the release cycle and the authentication, so its product team ships changes on its own schedule, and brokers and agents reach SkyView with no new address and no new sign-in. Pypestream designs, builds, manages and optimizes the AI Agents inside it.
SkyView was built for more than 150,000 RE/MAX brokers and agents worldwide, who reach it through RE/MAX's own login with no new address to learn. It covers pricing, sales packages, marketing and recruitment, and replaced the network's legacy portal.
Enterprises with their own product and engineering teams had been asking whether they could build the interface themselves and connect it directly to Pypestream's AI Agents. The Engagement API is the single integration point for that. It carries voice, chat, SMS and email through one layer into the same AI Agents, analytics and contact center behind it.
"Because RE/MAX brokers and agents already work inside company tools every day," said former CEO and Board Member Erik Carlson, "we wanted SkyView to feel like a seamless part of the network. The team built the front end themselves to maintain complete control over design, login, and release schedules, partnering with Pypestream's AI Agents to handle the answers and follow-through in the background."
Behind any interface built on the API, a Supervisor AI Agent interprets each request and delegates it to the AI Agent with the right tools. Answers come from the enterprise's own content, cited to source and current as that content changes. The AI Agents complete requests inside the enterprise's systems and escalate when a situation calls for human judgment. On voice, that escalation happens on the same live call: a person joins speaking, already holding the transcript, the verified identity and the open request, so the caller does not redial or repeat themselves.
The same AI Agents can reach an enterprise's own product or website on any surface its team designs, including mobile apps, internal portals behind the enterprise's own login, messaging channels such as SMS, WhatsApp and Messenger, and voice on the enterprise's own telephony systems.
Enterprise teams that want to build their own AI experience can book an architecture session, where Pypestream maps the team's product, systems and use cases.
About Pypestream
Pypestream builds AI agents that finish the job. Its agents work over voice and chat, answering customers, completing the request in the systems behind it, and handing off to a live person on the same call when a situation calls for human judgment. Autonomous resolution and live human escalation on one platform, with no second vendor at the seam. Pypestream has been in production with Fortune-class enterprises since 2017. The platform runs more than 500 AI agents and has handled over 2.5 billion interactions, more than 50 million a month, across 82 countries and more than 90 languages. Its architecture is covered by 13 issued US patents filed from 2015, and it is SOC 2 and PCI DSS Level 1 certified, both audited annually. Fortune 500 leaders in insurance, financial services, telecom, media, travel and retail rely on Pypestream, alongside public programs including California's State Compensation Insurance Fund and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
