Preventative Maintenance on Air Compressors as Temperatures Drop: ESA’s Advice
Engineering Sales Associates, based in North Carolina, is reaching out to clients and customers in the surrounding area to encourage them to keep preventative maintenance in mind as the seasons change. Factories involved in product manufacturing and other industrial applications will soon need to transition to winter maintenance schedules as temperatures drop to prevent operational issues and unexpected downtime.
As the weather changes, industrial and factory applications begin to face conditions they did not experience during the warmer months, making changes to preventative maintenance plans necessary.
Arthur Pue, President of Engineering Sales Associates, says that ESA “...encourages customers to stay ahead of inclement weather… to facilitate us getting out there and doing preventative maintenance.” Cold weather can affect many components of industrial applications, most commonly the condition of fluids within the system, and can also compromise the integrity of seals, valves, and other system components. As moisture from cold weather stays in the air, corrosion and rusting problems may also increase in industrial settings.
Seasonal inspections and preventative maintenance help ensure factories and other industrial settings are prepared for changing temperatures. Assessing insulation, the status of piping and drainage systems, and taking measures to protect machinery from freezing temperatures helps companies limit the issues they will face in the coming months, saving them a considerable amount of money, not only on repairs due to burst pipes, faulty seals, or problems caused by frozen fluids, but also on emergency system downtime as a result of the cold.
Pue reminds current and prospective clients when discussing preventative maintenance practices, “...the cost of that plan far outweighs the cost of lost production.”
