Ogborn Mihm LLP Partner Megan Matthews Named President of the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association (CTLA)
Ogborn Mihm LLP partner Megan Matthews has been named President of the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association (CTLA) for the 2026–2027 term, succeeding fellow partner Jason Wesoky, who served as President in 2025–2026. Managing Partner Nicole Quintana is slated to succeed Matthews for the 2027–2028 term, marking three consecutive CTLA presidencies held by Ogborn Mihm partners and a total of seven Ogborn Mihm attorneys who will have served as CTLA President.
The succession continues a decades-long tradition of Ogborn Mihm lawyers taking leadership roles in CTLA and advocating for plaintiffs, injured Coloradans, and a strong civil justice system. Before Wesoky, four other Ogborn Mihm partners served as CTLA President, including each of the firm's founders, Murray Ogborn, Mike Ogborn, and Michael "Mick" Mihm. The firm's involvement in CTLA's leadership now extends across generations of its lawyers.
CTLA is Colorado's largest specialty bar association, with more than 1,300 members statewide. Since 1953, the association has equipped civil trial lawyers to advocate for their clients from the courtroom to the Capitol. Its president helps guide CTLA's legislative advocacy, continuing legal education, and efforts to protect injured Coloradans' access to a fair civil justice system.
During Wesoky's presidency, CTLA's advocacy included efforts to develop two 2026 laws that strengthen consumer protections and preserve the independence of the legal profession. Senate Bill 26-174 prohibits the buying and selling of legal leads, targeting lead-generation businesses that mislead injured people into believing they are contacting a law firm. House Bill 26-1421 bars alternative business structures and most fee-sharing with nonlawyers, keeping outside investors from taking a financial stake in legal representation. Both laws took effect on August 12, 2026.
"Serving as CTLA President was an honor, and it reflects something our firm has believed for decades," said Wesoky. "Trial lawyers have a duty that extends beyond our own cases. When we protect the civil justice system, we protect every Coloradan who may one day need it. Megan and Nicole helped set this year's legislative agenda, and I am confident they will build on what we accomplished together."
"Murray, Mike, Mick, and now Jason showed all of us that leadership in this profession means showing up for the people we serve and for the lawyers who serve them," said Matthews. "I am grateful to continue that tradition and to work alongside Jason and Nicole to strengthen CTLA for its members and for injured Coloradans."
"When we founded this firm, we committed to two things: trying cases and giving back to the profession that made that possible," said founding partner Michael Mihm. "Seeing the next generation of Ogborn Mihm lawyers lead CTLA is one of the proudest achievements of our firm."
