On Saturday the 3rd, Netflix released the first images from March of the Jaguars, a new film from Lawrence Wahba. The feature film, created and produced in Brazil, is the first Latin American nature documentary on Netflix. It will premiere on  October 16 at the 50th edition of the São Paulo International Film Festival. The documentary is narrated by Oscar-nominated actress Fernanda Torres, as one of the jaguars.

The film traces the journey of a clan of spotted jaguars. At the center is Patrícia, the matriarch of the clan (voiced by Fernanda Torres), who tells the story of her grandchildren, Marcela and Rio, as they grow from cubs to adults in an increasingly dangerous world.

“When Mike Bueno and I began to follow a jaguar family in 2021, we couldn't even begin to imagine what lay in front of us. Slowly, moving at its own pace, nature revealed an extraordinary story, with charismatic personalities, drama, tragedy, danger, love, and resilience. A truly cinematic tale,” says director Lawrence Wahba.

Over the course of five years, the team spent a total of 46 weeks — across 26 separate expeditions — in and around Encontro das Águas State Park, in the Pantanal of Mato Grosso state in Brazil. They worked with locals, known as "Pantaneiros," researchers, and park rangers to capture the world of jaguars as never before,

Co-produced by Duo2 and Bonne Pioche, March of the Jaguars will premiere later this year on Netflix.
