Indianapolis Gains Its First Nonstop Montréal Flight as Air Canada Expands Summer 2027 Routes

Daily seasonal flights from June through September will link central Indiana with Montréal and its international connections, as IND reaches 58 nonstop destinations.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • Air Canada plans its first daily nonstop Indianapolis–Montréal service from June 1 to September 30, 2027.
  • Planned flights depart Indianapolis at 2:00 p.m. and Montréal at 5:00 p.m., according to Air Canada’s published schedule.
  • The Indianapolis Airport Authority counts 58 nonstop destinations, including six international destinations, following the announcement.
  • Montréal adds a second direct Canadian hub connection alongside Air Canada’s existing Indianapolis–Toronto route.

A new direct flight will put Montréal within nonstop reach of travelers from central Indiana in summer 2027, while adding another Canadian hub to Indianapolis International Airport’s growing international network. The first scheduled nonstop connection between Indianapolis International Airport (IND) and Montréal–Trudeau International Airport (YUL) is set to operate daily from June 1 through September 30, 2027.

Air Canada is introducing the service alongside its existing Indianapolis–Toronto route, giving passengers a second direct gateway into the carrier’s Canadian network. For Indianapolis-area travelers, Montréal offers a destination in its own right, known for its historic districts, dining and cultural attractions, as well as connections onward to other cities in Canada and overseas.

Daily afternoon flights planned in both directions

Under Air Canada’s published summer 2027 schedule, flight AC8564 is scheduled to depart Indianapolis at 2:00 p.m. and arrive in Montréal at 4:10 p.m. The return service, AC8563, is scheduled to leave Montréal at 5:00 p.m. and reach Indianapolis at 7:31 p.m. All times are local, and the service is seasonal rather than year-round.

Alexandre Lefebvre, Air Canada’s vice president of network planning and global sales, said the addition would make travel to Montréal easier for central Indiana residents while opening further connections through the airline’s YUL hub. The route also builds on Air Canada’s long-established service between Indianapolis and Toronto.

Indianapolis expands its international reach

The Indianapolis Airport Authority says the Montréal announcement brings IND’s network to a record 58 nonstop destinations, including six international destinations. Maggie Cunningham, the authority’s director of air service and airport experience, attributed the expanded network to traveler feedback and collaboration with airline partners.

Montréal joins several international destinations added to Indianapolis airport announcements over the preceding 18 months. Those include Dublin with Aer Lingus, San José del Cabo with Southwest Airlines, and Punta Cana with American Airlines. The latest service further broadens the mix of direct leisure destinations and international connections available from central Indiana.

Mario Rodriguez, executive director of the Indianapolis Airport Authority, identified Montréal as an important international business hub and highlighted the additional onward destinations accessible through international airline networks. The new route is designed to serve both travelers visiting Québec and passengers using Montréal as a transfer point.

The Indianapolis–Montréal service is also part of a wider Canada–U.S. network announcement by Air Canada and United Airlines for summer 2027. Air Canada’s plans include new Toronto–Louisville and Edmonton–Newark routes, while United has announced additional cross-border links. For Indianapolis passengers, the immediate change is a daily summer choice between a nonstop flight to Montréal and the existing connection to Toronto, with schedules subject to change ahead of launch.
