Joint initiative with CPS Energy brings LED lighting, weatherization, and water-saving upgrades to homes across the installation

SAN ANTONIO, Texas, October 21, 2026--Hunt Military Communities (HMC) has announced the launch of a community-wide energy efficiency project at its Fort Sam Houston Family Housing community, bringing upgraded energy- and water-saving features to homes throughout the installation. The initiative is designed to enhance resident comfort, improve home performance, and reduce utility consumption while supporting HMC's long-term sustainability goals.

The project, which is being implemented through the CPS Energy Sustainable Tomorrow Energy Plan (STEP), will include energy-efficient LED lighting, weatherstripping improvements, advanced power-saving technologies, and water conservation upgrades such as low-flow showerheads and faucet aerators. These enhancements are expected to lower utility usage, extend equipment life, and decrease maintenance needs across the community.

The upgrades represent the second phase of HMC's broader sustainability strategy at Fort Sam Houston Family Housing, following completed air conditioning tune-ups that improved the efficiency of A/C units community-wide.

"Our military families deserve homes that are reliable, comfortable, and efficient. This project is a meaningful investment in the performance and long-term sustainability of our Fort Sam Houston community — lowering utility consumption while improving the day-to-day experience of the families who live there."

— Brian Stann, President, Hunt Military Communities
