Ghana: Annan Perry backs Basiera Saankara for NDC Youth Organiser position

A Personal Assistant to GoldBod Chief Executive Officer Sammy Gyamfi, Annan Arhin Perry, has described Basiera Saankara as a grassroots mobiliser with the experience to succeed George Opare Addo, popularly known as Pablo, in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) youth leadership.

Mr Perry made the case for Mr Saankara in a Facebook post on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, highlighting his long record of service within the party’s organisational structures.

According to him, Mr Saankara has held several positions, beginning with Constituency Deputy Organiser in Wa West from 2006 to 2009, before becoming Constituency Youth Organiser from 2009 to 2018.

He subsequently served as Deputy Upper West Regional Organiser from 2018 to 2022 and has been the region’s Youth Organiser since 2022.

Mr Perry believes the experience gives Mr Saankara a strong foundation to lead the party’s youth wing, particularly in grassroots organisation and mobilisation.

“He is a true grassroots man and a mobilizer,” he wrote, arguing that Mr Saankara had demonstrated the ability to organise and drive political activity rather than wait for others to take the initiative.

Emphasising his confidence in the candidate, Mr Perry added: “He doesn’t need to be pushed because he is the pusher.”
