Fall Downtown Fest Returns October 30-31 with Casket Races, Dancing Witches and Halloween Fun
Caskets will race, witches will dance and inflatable costumes will sprint down South Spring Street as Fall Downtown Fest returns to downtown Beaver Dam on Friday, October 30, and Saturday, October 31, for two days of Halloween entertainment, family activities and unusual racing competitions.
Celebrating its eighth year, Fall Downtown Fest expands to two days for the first time, kicking off Friday evening with the new Boo, Scoot & Boogie Parade and Glow Dance Party from 5:30–7:30 p.m. Saturday's main festival runs from 10 a.m.–3 p.m., featuring downtown trick-or-treating, costume contests, activities, games, food trucks, live entertainment and more. The Halloween fun continues with citywide trick-or-treating from 4–6 p.m. on Saturday.
“Beaver Dam really embraces the spirit of Halloween, and we're excited to celebrate our eighth Fall Downtown Fest with an expanded two-day event,” said the Tourism Marketing Manager Shannon Koele at the Beaver Dam Chamber & Visitor Center. “With Halloween falling on Saturday this year, our fifth annual Casket Races, the Witches Dance and a brand-new Friday night parade and dance party, there's even more to experience. This event continues to grow, drawing thousands of visitors from across Wisconsin, and we encourage everyone to come in costume and join the fun.”
The fifth annual Casket Races return Saturday afternoon, featuring five-person teams racing creatively decorated, homemade caskets down South Spring Street for cash prizes, including $1,000 for first place. New this year is the Team Age Head Start Advantage, giving teams a head start based on the combined ages of their five racers. Teams with a combined age of 300 years or more receive the maximum 25-yard advantage.
The afternoon excitement begins with the Grand Procession at 1 p.m., featuring L.O.T.R. The Nine, Casket Race teams, inflatable costume racers and the Beaver Dam Witches, who close the procession with their popular Witches Dance.
The first heat of the Inflatable Costume Races begins at approximately 1:20 p.m., followed by the Casket Races at approximately 1:30 p.m. Additional inflatable heats will take place between Casket Races, with special exhibition races adding even more excitement to the afternoon.
Other Halloween weekend highlights include the One-Mile Crazy Costume Fun Run, the Creepy Doll Contest at the Dodge County Historical Society & Museum, a Vendor Market at The Watermark and the Friday evening Monster Bar Crawl for adults 21 and older.
Fall Downtown Fest is free to attend, with activities for all ages. Some individual activities may have separate fees.
