Developed by solo dev vodkakaa and published by GCORES PUBLISHING, Evocation is an innovative card battler where you play cards by connecting nodes to perform the rituals! Featuring two core modes—Single-player Roguelike PVE and Multiplayer PVP—it satisfies both strategic planning and competitive cravings for all types of players.
A Unique Roguelike PVE Experience
The single-player PVE mode features three independent card pools, over 300 unique cards, and more than 40 formidable enemies with distinct mechanics. With deeply designed card synergies, the potential for flexible and surprising combos is endless, allowing players to discover and craft their own unique strategic playstyles.
Cardplay evolves beyond simple placement into a system of deep, strategic construction. Spells are cast by connecting nodes to draw magic circles, where the specific positioning of each card and the sequence of connections trigger entirely different reactions. Furthermore, the deck is freely distributed across these nodes, and a two-card preview feature enables advanced, long-term tactical planning.
For buffs and progression, Evocation introduces a highly flexible Equipment-Ointment system. The mechanics allow players to freely equip gear and apply specialized ointments to modify trigger timings and stat values. Surplus loot can be sold for resources at any time, enabling players to tailor specific builds for different boss encounters and seamlessly swap loadouts prior to combat.
Additionally, while highly punishing random events in traditional roguelikes add variance, they often result in frustrating negative feedback. In Evocation, the random events and choices along your route are entirely positive-oriented: we’ve kept the thrill of high-risk, high-reward gambles, but we always guarantee a baseline reward option. There are no malicious random punishments—every choice you make guarantees tangible growth, making your route planning much more stable and controllable.
Multiplayer PVP with a Shared Magic Circle
Retaining the deep deckbuilding mechanics of the PVE experience, the multiplayer PVP mode introduces a highly strategic "Shared Magic Circle" system. The central magic circle consists of six nodes, divided equally between opposing players who place cards exclusively on their respective halves. However, both participants can utilize all nodes across the entire board to cast spells and trigger effects. This shared resource pool allows players to lay preemptive traps or intercept opponent spells, creating highly dynamic, real-time matchups that eliminate repetitive gameplay loops.
