East Baton Rouge Parish School System and Otus Partner to Drive Student Success Through Data-Informed Decision-Making
New assessment solution brings district-wide performance data together in one place
for deeper insights into student progress
Through a new strategic partnership with Otus, the leading K-12 assessment, data, and insights solution, East Baton Rouge Parish School System is building on its commitment to using student performance data to support more than 36,000 learners across nearly 70 schools. This collaboration is already helping teachers and administrators start the new school year with greater visibility into student progress and the enhanced ability to transform data into targeted action.
To streamline the district's capacity to collect, interpret, and analyze key data, East Baton Rouge Parish School System (EBR Schools) conducted a nationwide search for a qualified partner. The goal was to find a single, integrated platform that would provide teachers with consistent assessment data while supporting district-level accountability of performance metrics. Otus was selected for its approach to aligning formative assessments that monitor day-to-day learning with benchmark assessments that measure district-wide progress against grade-level standards, while also integrating data from existing third-party assessments.
Readying for the 2026-2027 school year required Otus to onboard the district in just 30 days. From late June through August, Otus and EBR Schools worked closely together to set up staff and students, roster classes, and complete initial training, laying the foundation for a successful district-wide launch. In addition, district administrators have taken strong internal ownership of the implementation, becoming the first line of support for staff and helping build educators' confidence and capacity across all schools.
The first Common Formative Assessment (CFA) testing window went live August 31, giving educators an early view of individual student progress within a specific unit of study. Additional assessments throughout the school year will continue to measure progress toward Louisiana state standards, helping educators identify areas of strength and opportunities for targeted support.
"Otus has helped districts across the country unify data, assessment, and progress monitoring in one connected view, and we are excited to bring our experience to our first partnership in Louisiana," said Chris Hull, Otus Co-Founder and President. "As the state continues to raise the bar for district accountability through its Grow. Achieve. Thrive. initiative, EBR Schools has taken the next step to effectively track student performance."
That commitment to continuous improvement is also reflected in how EBR Schools empowers educators in the classroom. Andrea O'Konski, Chief of Accountability, Assessment & Evaluation for the East Baton Rouge Parish School System, noted, "EBR Schools is focused on creating a culture where educators have access to innovative tools and ongoing support to strengthen classroom instruction. With Otus, we are giving teachers, students, and families a full picture of progress and the insights needed to help every child reach their learning goals."
