FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | 17 OCTOBER 2026
17 October 2026 – Liminal Games' first-person horror sequel Backrooms Anomaly: Pools has a free Windows demo available now on Steam. Players can explore the poolrooms before the game takes part in Steam Next Fest from 19 to 26 October 2026. The full game releases on 22 January 2027.
Pools takes the anomaly hunt from Backrooms Anomaly into a looping complex of tiled corridors, maintenance rooms and flooded chambers. Players learn how each space should look, then inspect it for changes. Spot an anomaly and turn back. If everything looks normal, keep going.
Completing the Detection Stage changes the pace. In the Survival Stage, players use a camera to photograph anomalies before time runs out. Multiple anomalies can appear at once, turning careful observation into a race against the clock.
Inside the demo
- 16 unique anomalies: discover changes in the environment and encounters with entities.
- Detection Stage: study the poolrooms and choose whether to turn back or continue.
- Survival Stage: photograph multiple anomalies against the clock.
