AWS Ecosystem Advances AI Strategies in Asia Pacific
Application modernization and local expertise help organizations deploy secure, trusted AI at scale, ISG Provider Lens® report says
SYDNEY, October 21, 2026--Enterprises in Asia Pacific are reshaping AWS environments to support expanding uses of AI while meeting local regulatory requirements, according to a new research report published today by Information Services Group (ISG) (Nasdaq: III), a global AI-centered technology research and advisory firm.
The 2026 ISG Provider Lens® AWS Ecosystem partners report for Asia Pacific finds that enterprises are using AWS to modernize technology estates, strengthen data foundations and prepare for production-scale AI deployments. They are seeking AWS services that integrate migration, cloud-native engineering and ongoing operations, pursuing greater agility and improved business outcomes.
"Effective AWS strategies in Asia Pacific require specific country-level capabilities with a shared operating backbone," said Michael Gale, partner and regional leader, ISG Asia Pacific. "Companies can differentiate themselves by using common assets while meeting local data, talent and regulatory requirements."
Modernization remains a primary goal of AWS strategies, but the programs of many companies in the region go beyond lift-and-shift approaches to include application, database and infrastructure changes. Enterprises are updating SAP environments, VMware estates and mainframes and expanding cloud-native engineering on AWS to support changing business requirements. This integrated approach helps reduce technical debt and provide stronger foundations for data-intensive processes.
Companies in Asia Pacific are deploying GenAI within AWS environments for use cases including knowledge assistants, customer service automation, software engineering and industry-specific applications. Amazon Bedrock, now available in more locations in the region, helps organizations address data residency, latency and control requirements for these applications. To operate AI reliably, enterprises are strengthening data engineering, retrieval architectures, security testing and responsible AI controls.
CIOs and CFOs are increasingly scrutinizing AWS unit economics, idle resources, licensing and workload placement as cloud consumption grows across Asia Pacific. This scrutiny is turning FinOps, cloud optimization, automation and managed AWS operations into higher priorities. Enterprises are expanding observability and site reliability engineering practices to improve performance, availability and resilience for business-critical AWS workloads, ISG says.
