Asenion Operationalizes Enterprise AI Compliance with SAS AI Navigator
Asenion Policy Packs are now available to purchase for use in SAS® AI Navigator, translating regulations, standards, industry requirements and bespoke internal policies into structured controls for AI use cases.
KITCHENER, Ontario - Oct. 19, 2026 -- Asenion, an AI compliance technology company focused on turning complex requirements into operational controls, today announced that Asenion Policy Packs are available to purchase for use in SAS® AI Navigator, extending the ability of organizations to apply structured compliance requirements across their AI portfolios.
The availability builds on a partnership between SAS and Asenion (formerly Fairly AI) that began in 2022, initially focused on AI assurance capabilities for SAS® Viya®, including bias and fairness assessments.
Today, the relationship expands from assurance of individual AI systems to a broader question facing enterprises everywhere:
How do you turn the requirements that apply to your organization into controls that can actually govern AI in operation?
AI compliance is bigger than AI regulation
Organizations are often told to "comply with the EU AI Act," "align with NIST AI RMF," or "implement ISO/IEC 42001." But those represent only a fraction of the requirements that can apply to an AI system.
AI compliance may depend on:
- Laws and regulations
- Regulatory mandates and obligations
- International and national standards
- Industry frameworks and guidelines
- Contractual and customer requirements
- Model risk and information security requirements
- Privacy and data protection policies
- Human resources and employment policies
- Responsible AI policies
- Organizational risk policies
- Custom and bespoke internal policies
Asenion Policy Packs are designed to bring these requirements together and translate them into operational controls that can be applied to specific AI use cases.
This means an organization can move beyond maintaining a library of regulatory documents to establishing a direct connection between:
requirement → context → intent → control objective → control → verification → evidence
Whether the AI system is a predictive model, generative AI application, AI agent, customer chatbot, employee-facing copilot or another emerging AI system, the same compliance approach can be applied.
From the language of compliance to the language of machines
At the heart of the collaboration is a deceptively difficult problem: compliance is written for humans, while AI systems operate through machines.
Regulations, standards and organizational policies are expressed in natural language. Organizations must translate those requirements into controls that can be applied to AI systems, tests that can verify whether those controls are effective, and evidence that can demonstrate the results.
Asenion was built to bridge that gap.
David Van Bruwaene, Co-Founder and CEO of Asenion, developed this perspective through a background spanning philosophy, linguistics and artificial intelligence. While pursuing his PhD in philosophy at Cornell University, Van Bruwaene developed a passion for linguistics and natural language processing (NLP), the field of AI concerned with enabling machines to understand human language.
That foundation informs Asenion's approach today: understand the language of the requirement, preserve its intent and translate it into something an organization can operationalize, verify and evidence.
"AI compliance cannot be solved by simply collecting more documents," said David Van Bruwaene, CEO of Asenion. "The real challenge is translating what a regulation, standard, or internal policy requires into controls that can be applied to the AI systems an organization actually operates. That is the problem Asenion was built to solve."
Making AI requirements operational
"Organizations need more than visibility into where AI is being used. They need a practical way to understand which requirements apply to each use case and how those requirements become part of the governance process," said Allie DeLonay, Senior Product Manager, SAS AI Navigator. "Policy Packs allow organizations to bring structured compliance requirements into the same environment where they are managing their AI inventory, policies and use cases"
SAS AI Navigator provides a centralized, vendor-agnostic view of AI models, agents and use cases, while helping organizations align AI use with government regulations and internal policies.
The availability of Asenion Policy Packs extends that approach by providing structured compliance content that can be applied to the requirements of individual organizations and AI use cases.
From requirement to operational AI compliance
Asenion ControlGen is the engine behind Asenion Policy Packs. It transforms the language of regulations, standards, frameworks, organizational policies and bespoke requirements into structured, operational controls.
Those controls are packaged into Asenion Policy Packs, which can then be applied to AI use cases through SAS AI Navigator.
This architecture means organizations are not limited to a predefined library of AI regulations. They can use Asenion ControlGen to translate the requirements that are relevant to their own business—including bespoke internal policies—into controls that can be applied to virtually any AI use case.
Part of the Asenion AI Control System
Asenion Policy Packs are part of the Asenion AI Control System, a collection of capabilities designed to accelerate the operationalization of AI compliance and assurance.
The suite brings together capabilities spanning policy and control management, AI assessment, verification and assurance, enabling organizations to move from high-level requirements to evidence about how AI systems perform against those requirements.
The Asenion AI Control System is available today through AWS Marketplace and Microsoft Marketplace.
Human and machine collaboration
Asenion's mission is grounded in a broader vision: a world where AI benefits everyone.
The company believes the future of AI compliance is not about replacing human judgment with automation. It is about creating a better division of work between people and machines.
People define requirements, interpret context, make decisions and remain accountable.
Machines can translate, map, verify, monitor and generate evidence at a scale that humans cannot.
Asenion brings these capabilities together so organizations can build AI systems that are not only more capable, but more understandable, measurable and accountable to the people who rely on them.
