As Tariffs Push Manufacturers to Reshore, Woods Distribution Offers Integrated 3PL Support for U.S. Producers

Woods Distribution, a Fort Worth-based third-party logistics (3PL) provider, is offering integrated logistics support to U.S. manufacturers that are reevaluating sourcing, production, and distribution strategies in response to an evolving tariff environment and renewed interest in domestic manufacturing.

Trade policy has been a moving target for manufacturers. According to Taylor's Q3 2026 Material Matters report, Section 301 tariffs on goods from China were upheld, keeping cost pressure on companies that depend on Chinese imports. For many producers, that uncertainty is accelerating conversations about bringing more production, assembly, and inventory closer to U.S. customers.

Reshoring, however, creates its own logistics challenges. Domestic production often requires new inbound flows of raw materials and components, additional storage near plants, and outbound distribution networks built for different volumes and destinations. Woods' approach, captured in its "Re-industrialize America" theme, is to give manufacturers a single partner that can support that shift from end to end.

"American manufacturers are making long-term decisions in a short-term policy environment, and they need logistics partners who can move with them," said Will Scherer, Director of Sales of Woods Distribution. "Our goal is to take warehousing, transportation, and packaging off their plate so they can focus on what they do best, which is building products here at home."

For industrial and manufacturing customers, Woods provides plant support services that coordinate inbound raw materials and outbound finished goods, along with shared and dedicated warehousing that can handle bulk and oversized pallets. Contract packaging and kitting teams work inside Woods' warehouses, allowing manufacturers to assemble kits, apply labels, and prepare retail-ready configurations without adding transportation legs.

On the transportation side, Woods operates its own trucks for local full truckload, less-than-truckload, box truck, and drayage service in Dallas-Fort Worth, while its in-house brokerage team handles nationwide FTL, LTL, intermodal, cross-border, and specialized freight. Cross-border capabilities are particularly relevant for manufacturers adjusting North American supply chains as sourcing patterns change.

Those capabilities are backed by Woods' relationship with Union Industrial Co., the Dallas-based private investment firm that Woods joined in April 2025. Together, warehousing, transportation, and packaging give manufacturers a single partner to coordinate inbound materials, storage, value-added work, and outbound distribution as their domestic footprint grows.

Manufacturers exploring these options can learn how Woods Distribution supports industrial supply chains with integrated warehousing, transportation, and packaging solutions.

"Reshoring is not a single decision, it is a series of operational changes that have to work together," Scherer added. "When one partner can store your materials, move your freight, and package your product, those changes happen faster and with a lot less risk."

With approximately 30 million cubic feet of warehouse space in Texas and 8 million cubic feet in Illinois, Woods supports manufacturers and brands in industrials, food and beverage, consumer packaged goods, retail, health and beauty, and apparel and footwear.
