Africa Prosperity Dialogues 2027 Rescheduled to 13–15 January Ahead of AU Summit

The Africa Prosperity Network (APN) announces that the Africa Prosperity Dialogues (APD) 2027 will now take place from 13 to 15 January 2027 at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City, Accra, replacing the previously announced dates of 27–29 January.

The revised dates align the Dialogues with the African Union’s continental calendar. The AU Summit is scheduled for 30–31 January 2027 in Addis Ababa, preceded by Executive Council meetings on 27–28 January. This earlier calendar accommodates Ramadan, which is expected to begin on the evening of 7 February, with the first day of fasting on 8 February 2027, subject to the sighting of the moon.

Convened by the Africa Prosperity Network under the patronage of H.E. President John Dramani Mahama, APD 2027 will bring together African political and business leaders to advance practical commitments on free movement and seamless cross-border payments, two priorities with the potential to deliver swift, significant gains in intra-African trade and accelerate the African Union’s integration agenda.

APD traditionally takes place approximately two weeks before the AU Summit, allowing its principal outcome document, the APD Action Compact, to be presented to Africa’s leaders in Addis Ababa. The Compact conveys the priorities, commitments and recommendations emerging from the annual Dialogues, reflecting the position of Africa’s private sector on advancing the continent’s single market agenda.

The revised timing preserves this established link between private sector dialogue and continental decision-making. It also avoids overlapping commitments for Heads of State, ministers, institutional leaders and other participants.

The 2027 Dialogues will take place at a particularly significant moment, as Ghana prepares to mark its 70th independence anniversary on 6 March 2027 and H.E. President John Dramani Mahama is expected to be confirmed as Chairperson of the African Union at the forthcoming AU Summit. According to Stanislav Xoese Dogbe, Deputy Chief of Staff, Office of the President, Ghana, His Excellency “views APD 2027 as a foundational pillar in a landmark year for Ghana and the continent.” The Presidency also envisages “the Dialogues as a high-level curtain raiser to these milestones, providing early intellectual and policy momentum ahead of the AU Summit,” now scheduled for 30–31 January 2027.

APD 2027 will convene under the theme: “The Africa We Want Is Borderless. Move Freely. Pay Seamlessly. Trade More.” Discussions will focus on practical steps to advance the free movement of Africans, seamless cross-border payments and increased intra-African trade.

APN sincerely apologises for any inconvenience caused by the change, particularly to partners, sponsors and delegates who have already begun making travel and other arrangements. Participants are encouraged to update their calendars and participation plans. The APN Secretariat will provide assistance with enquiries arising from the adjustment.

APN looks forward to welcoming participants to Accra for three days of purposeful dialogue and commitments to advance Africa’s integration and shared prosperity.
