55ip Expands UMA Offering to RIA Channel with J.P. Morgan Asset Management and BlackRock

55ip's new Unified Managed Account (UMA) structure offers access to outcome-oriented models and separately managed accounts (SMAs) featuring investment solutions from J.P. Morgan Asset Management and BlackRock
BOSTON, October 20, 2026--55ip, a tax-smart investment technology platform, announced the expansion of its unified managed account (UMA) capabilities for the RIA channel. The initial offering includes model portfolios with separately managed accounts (SMAs) from J.P. Morgan Asset Management, 55ip's parent company, and BlackRock, a long-standing 55ip model partner, with additional asset managers expected to join later this year.
The enhanced platform combines managed and custom model portfolio strategies with equity SMAs in a single account, powered by 55ip's ActiveTax Technology®. This follows the progression of its offerings to RIAs that started with models, SMAs, and Direct Indexing.
Adoption of UMA accounts within the RIA channel continues to accelerate, with Cerulli projecting UMA assets to reach approximately $3.7 trillion in the U.S. by the end of 2026. Their value is realized in tax management, transitions, diversification across strategies, operational efficiency, and personalization.
In recent years, 55ip has expanded its tax-managed UMA offerings for select enterprise partners. Through this extended offering with asset managers, 55ip now provides RIAs greater choice and scaling opportunities. This includes:
Single account structure — Simplifies operations while leveraging an asset manager-provided or an advisor-provided model strategy combining ETFs, Mutual Funds, and an active SMA.
Improved visibility — The 55ip Portal will deliver holistic portfolio management for the full target UMA model - similar to the existing portal that advisors have rated as easy to use and navigate - providing detailed breakdowns of both the model and SMA portions of the account.
55ip's ActiveTax Technology — 55ip will continue to provide recommendations for tax transitions and ongoing account management reflecting the combination of an active SMA with ETFs, and Mutual Funds.
"The rapid growth in the RIA channel highlights the issue of scale for advisors," commented Gautam Sachdev, Chief Executive Officer, 55ip. "Navigating the complexity of acquiring new clients, while contending with infrastructure challenges can be alleviated with the addition of a UMA to an advisor's practice. We are excited to collaborate with two leading asset managers to meet the needs of a broader range of clients."
